Heavy rains are adding to woes in the Philippines this week, only days after a typhoon saturated the country's capital and nearby villages.
At least 50 percent of Manila is flooded due to continuous downpours, according to the government's disaster response agency. As much as 30 percent of the capital is under waist or neck deep water.
''It's like a water world,'' Benito Ramos, head of the agency, said.
The wet conditions mixed with mushy ground following last week's Typhoon Saola have also triggered landslides.
Nine people are confirmed dead after a landslide Tuesday and rescue crews are still working to dig out anyone buried. The recent typhoon also killed at least 53 people.
Strong rains in the Philippines from a tropical storm off China are expected to last until Thursday.
