Imprisoned Iranian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani will face yet another court appearance in less than a month to answer to the "charges brought against him."
The American Center for Law and Justice, which has been following the case closely, said officials sent a summons to Pastor Youcef demanding his appearance.
Youcef has been detained for nearly three years for refusing to recant his Christian faith to Iranian authorities.
Iran has denied the apostasy charge and and accusations of mistreating Nadarkhani while he's been in custody, contrary to what the ACLJ has witnessed. Authorities have also given conflicting reports on the ordeal.
"Iran has repeatedly attempted to confuse the international community by alleging that Pastor Youcef is nothing more than a common criminal," ACLJ Executive Counsel Jordan Sekulow told the Christian Post.
The ACLJ said it's unclear whether Nadarkhani will be asked again to recant his faith, or whether the upcoming court appearance is for a new charge.
