A Few Facts on Electric Cement Mixers

Machine-technologies have given us a great invention in the electric cement mixer. Before this handy piece of equipment was invented the only way to get this material mixed correctly was to have it done in one of the big trucks that bring it to large jobsites. If you needed a small amount of the substance you had to mix it by hand, and that was quite a job.

The electric cement mixer can be handled by just one person and they can mix very small batches of concrete up for us, or they can do medium size batches of concrete. The machine-technologies that have given us this tool has also given us the ability to do smaller jobs with less trouble, and better finished results.

Each year more and more machine-technologies are put into play that allows us to do our jobs with more ease. The electric cement mixer is but one of the many different tools that have been invented, improved, and advanced over the past few years.

This is understandable because as we use a tool we learn more about the tool and we learn what we could change about the tool to make it better. We adjust the items and improve the items until we have something that we can use where we need it, when we need to, and for the length of time we need to.

When you are doing a project that calls for small amounts of concrete to be mixed up, and then you need to have an electric mixer to do this with. The electric mixer can stir the sand and mortar mixture more completely than you can stir it with your hands.

When the product is mixed more thoroughly then you get a better finished project because the concrete can be made smoother than if it was stirred by hand and left in a partially raw state. The better the completed project looks the better you feel about your skills. If you are doing this work for hire the better it looks the more references you will receive from the customer.

You can buy these items at a lot of the building supply and hardware stores around the country. You can buy small versions that are hand held and larger versions that have wheels on them to make them easier to move around the job site.

The price of these items varies depending on the size of the item you need, the brand that the item has on it, and the power that the mixer has. The price of this item is far cheaper than having a truck load of cement delivered, because if you order less than five yards of cement there is a delivery charge, and generally when you order less than five yard of cement you get the leftovers from a larger order that is already beginning to get too hard to work properly. This situation leaves your job really looking poorly when the concrete sets up before you can get it worked correctly.

An electric cement mixer is part of machine-technologies that the average person can use to complete smaller jobs. The items afford you the luxury of having smoother concrete finishes on small amounts of cement.

New Voters/New Employees: Facts to Be Aware of Before Casting Your Vote for President

In June 2009, the latest recession ended. A recession is defined as two consecutive quarters of negative growth.

In the preceding nine recessions since World War 2, recoveries were in a range of fairly robust to very robust. Presently we have the weakest recovery since then, so weak, that calling it a recovery at all, does not seem justified.

So many negative records have been broken, since 2009, a person doesn't know where to start in discussing which of these has been most harmful to most Americans, especially to the middle class. Here are just some of those numbers.

-The unemployment rate has been above 8% for 43 successive months

-An additional 360,000 people left the workforce in the report of August 2012

-The number who left the workforce is four times greater than new jobs created

-The labor participation rate dropped to 63.5%--the lowest in 30 years

-There are 1.3 million less people working than were working in December 2008.

-Teen unemployment is 24.6%, still near the March-highest ever-record-25.0%

-Jobs lost have been greater than jobs gained since President Obama took office

-U.S. debt has increased more in the last 44 months than it did in our first 213 years

This is just a tiny sample of the dozens of heart breaking facts that have taken family income back to 1995 levels.

What Do Government Agencies Project For the Future

The August 2012 Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report projects sluggish growth through 2012, becoming even more sluggish in the first half of 2013, expecting the growth rate to drop to a very anemic 1 3/4 %. In order to create enough jobs, to stay up with the million plus, new workers entering the workforce each year, a growth rate somewhere around 2.5% is needed.

Other CBO Data

-Policy changes being considered could take the unemployment rate above 9% in 2014.

-The national debt has increased from $10.6 trillion in 2009 to $16 trillion plus in 2012

-Under present policies the national debt will be $22 trillion in 2022.

The private sector thrives when sufficient investment capital is available for new business start-ups, it suffers when excessive capital is taken by government. Federal spending has gone from 21% to 25% since 2009, removing hundreds of billions from private sector investment.

President Obama recently stated that "the private sector is doing fine." He has said he needs four more years to fix things.

Do you agree with the president that the private sector is doing fine? Does his first four years in office along with the projections above, give you confidence that giving him four more years will make your future secure and prosperous?

Young voters, you have been handed a massive debt. Consider all of the above when you vote.

Team Romney's war against facts - Chicago Tribune

Sure, both sides shade the truth. But that means we, the voters, should be more watchful, not less. (Tribune photo illustration, Tribune photo illustration / September 1, 2012)

— It's hard to tell who had a looser grip on reality as the Republican National Convention wrapped up; Clint Eastwood or Mitt Romney's spin doctors.

Who thought it would be a brilliant idea to put the "Dirty Harry" star, his hair reminiscent of the wild-eyed scientist from "Back to the Future," on live TV without notes? As much as it pains some of President Barack Obama's critics to acknowledge it, sometimes a teleprompter is a good idea.

I'll give Eastwood a break, but there's no excuse for the fantasies repeated by myth-building politicians, like the evening's star speaker, GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, even after nonpartisan media fact checkers have found the statements to be untrue.

For example, Romney grandly promised, "I will begin my presidency with a jobs tour. President Obama began with an apology tour." Ah there goes "apology tour" again. The line lives in Republican stump speeches, despite its winning "four Pinocchios" months ago from The Washington Post's Fact Checker Glenn Kessler, among others.

In fact, the president has never apologized for anything on his foreign trips, although previous presidents have. George W. Bush, for example, in a news conference with Jordan's King Abdullah apologized for the humiliation suffered by Iraqi prisoners. But apologies were not such a big issue then.

Both parties spin some whoppers, of course. But the most significant quote last week, in my view, came from Romney's pollster Neil Newhouse at an ABC News/Yahoo panel in Tampa. "We're not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers," he said, because fact checkers bring their own "thoughts and beliefs" to the process.

He was speaking about the Romney ad and stump speech lines that attack Obama's welfare waiver process, an attack that a variety of media fact checkers have found to be bogus.

Funny thing, but I thought the credibility of a fact checker should be judged by the accuracy of his or her fact checking, not on what we think might be going on in their heads at the time. Newhouse, I believe, is blurring the line between spin and outright lies.

Spin, by its nature, is a view of reality that depends on the eye of the beholder. Lies are a willfully false reconstruction of reality.

When the welfare ad, for example, says the Obama administration has ended the work requirement in the landmark 1996 welfare reform law, that's simply false. The administration is offering states a chance to apply for more flexibility in determining their own work requirements, if they agree to actually raise the number of people they move from welfare to work.

Critics argue that states might weaken the work requirements by assigning activities that are not really "work." But that arguable possibility, which always has been present and deserves sensible monitoring, does not change the reality that Obama has not ended the work requirement.

Yet, fact checkers could hardly catch up with that remark before Romney's running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, unleashed a few more fibs and convenient omissions in his own convention speech.

For example, he had the audacity to poke at the "$716 billion funneled out of Medicare by President Obama" without noting that his own past budget plans counted on the very same savings. The same one-sided charge that Obama "raids" Medicare to pay for Obamacare appears in Romney campaign ads too.

I'm sure the Democrats will have plenty more to say about such omissions and other matters in the weeks to come, just as Republicans will attack shadings of truth from the left. But the push-back by the Romney campaign sounds like it's unveiling a new morality: In some minds, you don't need fact when you have super PACS.

It is against such Machiavellian cynicism that independent fact checking has become a healthy and necessary development in today's information explosion. Fact checkers give voters a little more of a fighting chance against the well-funded propaganda wars waged by both political sides.

Sure, both sides shade the truth. But that means we, the voters, should be more watchful, not less. After all, If you can't trust a campaign to tell you the truth in its speeches and ads, do you really want to trust it with your Medicare?
