Federal Help Through Grants

There are a lot of single mothers that really do want to be able to return to college in order to better themselves. These same individuals might not be able to make this happen because they are not able to pay for childcare that they need in order to be able to go to classes. This can be very complicated for those mothers that do not have family members or friends that they can rely on for assistance when it comes to caring for their children. The same might be true for mothers that want to go to work or get a job. Therefore, these people are going to want to know about the day care subsidy grants that they might be able to apply for in order to get any help that they could need.

You might be wondering what this grant actually is. It is for mothers of infants or toddlers that are in need of quality child care services so that they can return to college and get an education. If you believe that you might be able to benefit from this type of grant then you will certainly want to contact your local health and human services organization and ask them if they offer it in your area and how you can apply. Many times you will find that the amount of money you will receive is going to be related to just how much money you make or have coming into your home. One good thing is that many people will find out that they can take their child just about anywhere that they want for child care services and they will be covered.

The above grant can also be a benefit for those single mothers that may already have a college education but they need to get a job. It can be very difficult to get a great job when you are struggling to pay for child care. Many times mothers will end up paying more in child care than they are actually making. It would not pay them to work in these situations. So, if you are in need of affordable child care in order to get a job you will want to contact your local social services office and find out what you need to do to apply.

What about paying for college? This can always be a challenge as well. You may like to know that you can apply for federal student aid or pell grants by filling out your FAFSA. This can be picked up at your local college and you can even speak with an employee in the admissions office so that they can help you determine how to go about filling it out and applying for aid. What you must remember is that you will not be able to get any type of assistance unless you fill out this form. Keep in mind that you will be required to pay back student loans but you do not have to pay back pell grants. These are the ideal grants that you should attempt to get if you are in need of financial assistance for school. This is because many people find out that they end up paying back a great deal in student loans once they graduate. You will not have to worry about that if you have pell grants.

Other grants that might be given to your local social services agency are going to be disbursed by them personally. This is because the social service agency will need to complete certain paperwork to get the grants and then they are in charge of ensure that families complete the necessary paperwork, meet all the guidelines, and receive the services that they qualify for. These types of grants might include different assistance programs such as cash assistance that is given month by month or even housing and rent assistance that can be made if the families qualify. If you are in need of assistance with rent or heating costs then you will want to contact your local agency and find out what they have available. Sometimes, especially with weatherization programs, you may need to be placed on a waiting list so it is best to call soon.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is safe from both U.S. and British authorities as Ecuador granted him political asylum Thursday.

Assange has been holed up in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London for two months. British authorities say they have a legal obligation to arrest Assange as soon as he sets foot outside the embassy.

Assange is trying to avoid extradition to Sweden, where two women have accused him of assault and rape. The move by Ecuador drew an angry response from Sweden.

Ecuador's government plans to try to negotiate with Britain to secure Assange's safe passage out of the country.

Some experts say today's decision could be the beginning of an international face-off.
