It's the year all the New Age movement has been waiting for. 2012 promised to be a year of extremes. Depending on who you listened to, humanity would either be raised to a higher vibrational level or else rescued by space ships and taken elsewhere. Either way, those who were "not ready" would somehow be purged, while the better ones, i.e. the followers of the various New Age movements, would experience a new world.

Such beliefs can to a certain extend be excused. Just like Christians are waiting for the return of Christ, when those who believed would receive their reward, so do Muslims long for their theocracy, when God will punish the infidels. It is then maybe not surprising that a similar believe had emerged among many "spiritual" people. The problem with this is not just that it is based on wishful thinking but, more importantly, that it fosters complacency at a time when we all need to act!

World Situation

Given where humanity is at, it must be tempting to wish for outside intervention. Many readers will be aware of the emerging New World Order, the ever advancing global total surveillance and total control state and the eradication of civil liberties and basic human rights. The thought that humanity will indeed be living in a Orwellian world and that maybe there will be no revolution, no hero like in the "V for Vendetta" movie, and no hope for aeons to come, is indeed frightening. Such fear, however, does not need to lead to paralysis and complacency. Fear can also be used to spurn us on, to do things we would not otherwise have dared. In other words, with the stakes so high, surely now is the time to rise to the challenge and for every single one of us to act in whichever way we can.

Historic Indications

Are there any signs in the known history of humanity that would support the assumption that we will in some way be rescued from outside alien or spiritual sources?

Many may point to evidence of extraterrestrial visits in the past and that maybe aliens have been in human contact for centuries, even millennia. However, even if this is true, the questions then becomes, why are they not helping us but seem to be keeping their presence secret, while only permitting a few at the top of human society to take advantage of their secret knowledge and technology and even to use this for the control of the masses? Assuming that extraterrestrials are indeed in Earth proximity, their intentions have to be questioned. They have not so far intervened on behalf of the poor, the brave, the minorities or the masses.

Is there historic evidence of humanity making sudden leaps in their spiritual abilities? If anything, these seem to have regressed over time. Atlantis is understood to have been a far advanced culture compared to our current one and while, later on, structures such as the pyramids of Egypt may have been built with the help of levitation, such skills soon after got lost or were preserved in secret only. It is of course possible, in theory, that higher spiritual forces will intervene in the near future, but would such interference make any sense?

The Toltec

I had the privilege of working under the guidance of Toltec nagal Theun Mares from 2003 until his passing in 2011 and to get a glimpse of what Toltecs make of the current world situation.

Who or what are Toltecs? Toltec means "man or woman of knowledge" and the name does not originate in Mesoamerica, although it has survived there. Toltecs have been the custodians of man's heritage, namely that secret knowledge of life and the self, which has up until recently been passed orally from generation to generation. Toltecs come from all cultures and all races. Under order from the Guardians (otherwise often know as Ascended Masters), Toltecs have begun to reveal to humanity its heritage, as it is now deemed that humanity has come of age and has to take responsibility for this knowledge. Theun Mares played a major part in this through his series of books called The Toltec Teachings.

The purpose of life

In order to understand the Toltec stance on where the world is at, it is important to understand the purpose of life on earth (i.e. in incarnation).

The souls of man incarnate into material lives in order to evolve their awareness, which contributes to life as a whole also evolving its awareness. So we incarnate with the aim of learning certain things and of having certain experiences. Each individual, but also humanity as a whole, grow and evolve through this experience. Part of the challenge of this is that once we have incarnated, we, the social person, forget our origins and who we really are. The challenge of re-membering is part of the journey. But while this has an evolutionary purpose, it also means that the incarnated person can often get up to all sorts of destructive behaviour and it is this that has led us to the dire world situation we are now in.

The Toltec View

Considering the above, what would be the point of anyone or anything to come to humanity's rescue? Is the world situation not what we have called forth? Does it not reflect our own inner state of being?

Toltecs know that the Guardians have, in Their wisdom, decided to step back! Humanity has come of age and it would not be life-supportive to take our challenge away from us by interfering with our destiny. If the truth be told, the evolution of awareness is infinitely more important than the fates of a few (or even a few million) incarnated lives. The Guardians have left it in our hands to now take responsibility for ourselves and to take the required action. So much to being raised to a higher spiritual level! Unless we put in the required effort to accomplish this ourselves, it isn't going to happen anytime soon. And although man has indeed got god-like potential, such potential needs to be unfolded and claimed. So while we are perfectly capable of performing miracles, these aren't going to happen by themselves.

Needless to say, the Guardians decision, with its huge implications, would be rather pointless if they allowed extraterrestrials to take us away to a different planet to make a new start. So this isn't going to happen either.

So what now?

The problem with the New Age approach is that it encourages complacency. We are told simply to meditate on love and light and maybe work on our own spirituality. All the while the New World Order is upon us and we are facing an Orwellian world. Don't they say "God helps those who help themselves"? Well, there is a reason for this. Nothing in life just happens by itself. The more we have to work for something, the greater the knowledge we gain from it. This is true for individuals as well as humanity as a whole.

So the first step is for each one of us to take full responsibility for our lives and for the circumstances we have called forth, which is of course the opposite to seeing oneself as a victim. We can't do this for others, so here charity starts at home. Once we have started to challenge our own believes and attitudes and our own behaviour, we can then also challenge others. But really, by uplifting ourselves, we are already uplifting everyone around us as well. So this is the most important and most often overlooked step. Even just a few empowered individuals can make a big difference in the world!

Theun Mares always led by example in the way he lived the life of a warrior and by not allowing anyone to become dependent on him. He used to say "I want warriors, not dependants." In this spirit of self-sufficiency he also founded Radiant Life Technologies in 2009. Its vision is to support people in becoming less dependent on the system, starting with healing, i.e. medical self-sufficiency. Theun knew from his own experience that certain technology can be used to support the body's self-healing capacity in a holistic and non-invasive way. And when one of his apprentices had a dream about the combination of lasers, colours, ultrasound and magnetism in one combined therapy, coMra-Therapy was born. Here again, many new age followers do not believe that healing can come from a device and that it has to come from a "higher" source. But they forget that the world is entering the 5th Cosmic Ray, which is the Ray of Science and Concrete Knowledge. So it is not science that is evil but the selective perception and destructive motives of many of those involved. Here again we need to act and participate in order to create a better world, not turn our backs.

In the example above, Theun Mares followed his heart and acted on it. Being as practical as ever, he did not waste time on rational contemplation or give in to fear but simply acted as best as he could. This is what we need. Practical action.

So what does 2012 mean? Simply put, it is the year that is most likely to dictate how our future will pan out on planet earth. We all can influence our future through our actions. They need not be such that the whole world knows about them. We just need to remember one basic premise. The only real action flows from the heart. The mind can only deal with the known and therefore any action arising from rational thought is strictly speaking a re-action, a repetition of the old. We aren't going to change the world through repeating the old. Besides, trusting our feelings and acting on them also makes for a much more exciting way of living!
