Social, Racial, and Financial Equity and Fairness - Isn't
Despite what people might think, everyone is not created equally. Some people have a more rounded face, a bigger nose, and what have you. We can't make everyone the same unless we do major genetic modification. Of course, as soon as we make everyone the same, then everyone isn't needed anymore, and therein lies the rub of living in a utopian perfect socialist world of the Borg. Okay so, now that I have your attention let's go ahead and discuss this for a moment shall we?
Some people are better at some things, while other people are better at other things. We should celebrate the diversity, it is a good thing, and the more we try to make everyone the same, the less diversity will have, therefore the fewer benefits of such. It is amazing how people demand respect, tell us that they are of some minority status, and that they want to be the same as everyone else. Of course, once everyone is equal, then no one is going to get any benefits, and no one's going to be happy. It's kind of a Catch-22, but it's too bad people don't see it.
Having everyone enjoy equal status under the law is quite an interesting concept, and it is wonderful for a society and civilization. The United States has benefited immensely from this ideal, and we should keep it going. However, being equal under the law is not the same as everyone being equal in every way. Some people are better at English, some people are better at math, and some of us are better athletes, while others are better artists. Pulling down the best artists in the world, and making them run laps, then slowing down me, the athletes, so they can keep up hardly makes any sense.
Giving a paintbrush to an athlete, and telling them to go paint something, and then telling them that their painting is as good as the expert artist is utterly ridiculous, and yet it is akin to exactly what we are doing now. When some people work harder, they will earn more money, and why would it be fair for someone who works less to automatically have the same amount for their labors?
It isn't, and we inherently already know this. And yet with all the class warfare we work so very hard to justify our fears, to the point that we are willing to steal from one group and give it to another, and then tell them their painting is just as good. It isn't. And I think we all know this. Please consider all this on a philosophical level and think on it.
