In America, the Tea Party has been very successful in winning elections. Now members of a new party in Australia are hoping to do the same.

Catch the Fire Ministries' Pastor Danny Nalliah has formed a new Australian party called "Rise Up Australia."

Many of the party's members are evangelical Christians. Their goal is to protect free speech and freedom of religion and to preserve Australia's Judeo-Christian heritage.

Nalliah started the party June 22, 2011, the anniversary of his successful court case in Victoria state.

He, along with professor Daniel Scott, known together as "the two Danny's," fought a five-year legal battle over charges they vilified Muslims during a church seminar.

In October 2008, Nalliah made headlines again after a series of uncontained brushfires killed 173 Australians. He said he had a prophetic dream that the fires were the consequence of a Victoria state law decriminalizing abortion.

Nalliah told CBN News that lives are being transformed at weekly prayer meetings now held in more than 75 Australian cities.

"These prayer groups are focused on praying for breakthroughs," he said. "We are calling for a reformation of love. I know Australia will come to Jesus in the next 10 years."

Nalliah said he believes Christians will lead the way to transform their society, not only by spending more time on their knees, but also in Australian voting booths.

Nalliah shared more of his party's vision, as well as his testimony on how God protected him during several life-threatening situations, on "The 700 Club," Aug. 15.
